WEB RANger-II ( WR2 ) access router
** The WR2 was replaced by the FCD-IP
WEB RANger-II ( WR2 ) is an access router, connecting small or medium-sized offices
to the Internet over a variety of WAN interfaces.
WAN services Supported on the RAD WEB RANger-II ( WR2 ) are:
T1 or fractional T1 CSU/DSU, operating at rates of up to 1.544 Mbps
E1 or fractional E1, with or without LTU, operating at rates of up to 2.048
Mbps
E1 or T1 over fiber optic links
Frame Relay with auto learn of DLCI and maintenance protocol
ISDN BRI
DDS (56 kbps)
Leased line.
RAD WEB RANger-II ( WR2 ) offers a variety of data interfaces: V.35, V.24, V.36, X.21 and RS-530.
WEB RANger-II supports IP/IPX routing and bridging.
Internet access capabilities are enhanced through:
IP Service Access Authentication provided by PAP/CHAP
Solid Firewall for protecting an office LAN from undesired entry from the Internet
NAT for sharing of several legal IP addresses between the various LAN users
Single IP address translation for connecting a small or medium office LAN
to the Internet, using a single dynamically or statically allocated IP
address
DHCP server for the sharing of IP address pools between DHCP clients on the
LAN.
The quad analog voice or sub-E1/T1 drop & insert ports provide toll-quality
voice transmission.
The fail-safe bypass of the sub-E1/T1 link ensures the continuity of voice
services in case of power supply failures.
ISDN or PSTN backup, using external dial-up modem, ensures the continuity
of data services.
Connection On Demand (COD) and Bandwidth On Demand (BOD), together with
advanced filtering, reduce communication expenses of ISDN services.
Easy configuration through a quick setup menu is performed via a terminal
attached to the control port, or via Telnet access to the device over LAN
or WAN. The SNMP agent provides management by RADview or any other standard
SNMP management station.
Undesired access to WEB RANger-II via Telnet or SNMP can be blocked or
protected by a password.
The two-level management authentication allows the user access to router
configuration parameters, while restricting access to network configuration
parameters.
Software download is available via the control port using XMODEM, and via
LAN/WAN using TFTP.
Parameter file download and upload is available via LAN or WAN using TFTP.
